Dr. Or Tuttnauer

I’m a political scientist doing comparative democracy research with a focus on institutions, party competition, and electoral behaviour. My works on parliamentary opposition, political parties, and electoral behavior have been published in American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, West European Politics, Party Politics, and more (see the full list of publications here).

From August 2026 to January 2027, I’ll be the Interim Professor for Empirical Democracy Research at the University of Mannheim, teaching quantitative methods, scientific thinking, and other seminars (more on teaching here). I will then return to my usual position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES), where I lead a DFG-funded project on government-opposition relations and public attitudes and a GIF-funded project (together with Odelia Oshri and Reut Itzkovitch-Malka) on the voting behaviour of Muslims in Europe.

Outside the office, I’m a proud father of three and a loving lesser-half to my wife. I love hiking and traveling and can’t wait for my children to grow up a bit more so I could do these things more frequently with them.
